You can name the mother wound before you know what to do
Mother wound unlocked. Is there a manual?
People post that, and then they ask the plain version underneath it: I think I have a mother wound, what do I do with it? The replies come fast. Read this book. Try this exercise. Set boundaries. Go no contact. Forgive her. Don't forgive her yet. Everybody has a next step, and most of them say it like they're sure.
I'm not against anything on that list, and some of it may suit somebody. I get why the question is what to do with it. Carrying something around with no job attached is uncomfortable. If it's a problem, it should have a fix, and then you could stop thinking about it. That makes sense to me.
My opinion is that you can name it before you know what to do. Saying it is already something you did. You look at how it went with your mom and say, that hurt, and it's still here. It can be that short. That sentence can sit for a while with no plan under it, and nobody has to hand you a next step for it to be real. A plan isn't what makes it true.
Look at how much of the advice in those replies is about her. Whether to call her. Whether to tell her. Whether she gets another chance. Those are real decisions, and they're a lot to take on right when you find the words. None of them is the hurt itself. You can say the sentence first and take those up later.
Forgiving her and cutting her off are both on that list, and I don't think either one has to come first. The sentence doesn't depend on how they turn out. You also don't have to settle what she was like before it counts. It counts because of how it went for you.
A plan can come later. It might be a book, a boundary, a talk with her, or nothing for a while. None of those has to be today's job. Saying it is what you did today.
I can't tell you from here what your plan should be. What I can say is that you don't need one yet. You can take your time with the rest.
You can name the mother wound before you know what to do.
